Episode 398 – Everybody Loves a Sound Wave
Todd is away for the next couple of episodes. He will be back in time for episode 400! This week, Sean delves into the movie that broke him, Pump Up the Volume. Inspired by Eric Senich’s episode (see show notes below for more info), Sean breaks down the movie that changed the music he listened to. Pump Up The Volume was deeply influential musically, thematically, and philosophically and was one of the lynchpins to Leonard Cohen’s emergence as an artist for a younger generation. But it doesn’t stop there, it also brought forward The Pixies and Soundgarden! From the movie that essentially invented the Podcast, let’s hear the movie and listen to some of its songs.
The film is NOT available for proper purchase BUT you can watch it here: https://archive.org/details/pump_up_the_volume_1990
