Episode 416 – We Insure We Drew No Rust on Meeno

Sean and Todd are back together in the studio! And what are we hitting on today? Alec Baldwin is being charged in the on-set death from his movie Rust (1:05). We offer our unprofessional opinion on the story. We talk about the Crow and Brandon Lee’s death (7:31). We dip into the death of Jon-Erik Hexum and reminisce on the show Voyageurs and its star Meeno Peluce and the connection to Ronnie James Dio (19:46). What about insurance on movie sets (27:58)? Just what does that cover and what is it for? Brandon Lee’s death required a whole bunch of work in post to save the film: just what did they have to do (30:36)?

Voyageurs awakened the imagination of many kids in the 80’s: What was this show and whatever happened to Meeno Peluce (32:48)? What were your favorite child actors of that era? (37:44) We talk about ET and it’s impact on films, ensemble casts and Drew Barrymore (42:30). We reminisce about the show Buck Rogers and compare the acting to it to the film was in (48:52).

Mego Toys made the coolest toys in the 70’s. From Star Trek to Planet Of The Apes and various others, they were the top toy maker when we grew up (1:07:07). Others shows that captured our imagination was The Man From Atlantis (1:13:32). Does anyone remember BJ and The Bear (1:16:59) ? What this the inspiration for Trunk Monkey? (1:19:04)

Special shout out to Nicholas Friesen, Ryan Murphy, Brian Cook from WHY, James Beaver, and Eric Senich, and let’s not forget about our own Karen Bee.

Hi, I am Sean "SeanGeek" McGinity. And I am a geek. For me, the definition of the word geek comes from liking something so much, that I deep dive into it. Not just consuming it... but becoming it. I "geek out". Everything started with comics. I read them and studied them with a fine eye, and then started making my own. Since then, I have "geeked out" on movies (Star Wars The Evil WIthin, Hurt), music writing, recording, and performing (The Classic Embers and Dome), writing (the Symka comic and the upcoming Intuitives novel), and now... this Podcast.

Hey guys, SeanGeek here. Just to be clear, this is me geeking out on Todd "FastFretFingers" McGinity here. Todd is the GOAT. My brother is an established musician, mastering the Fretboard with a blistering discipline. If there was a guitar style, tone, pitch... Todd would find a way to replicate it. From his early days mastering Van Halen and Rush, his musical palate has expanded with forays into classical and flamenco, hard rock, blues and pop. From live performances to learning the recording process, when it comes to music, he has done it all.
